Solidarity once again becomes the protagonist in the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Carmen in La Villa de Teguise.

The festivities in honor of Our Lady of Carmen continue to unfold with extraordinary citizen participation, where tradition, faith, and commitment to the most needy once again go hand in hand in each of the programmed events.

Last Saturday at 6:30 PM, the main church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe hosted the celebration of the Solemn Eucharist, presided over by the titular pastor Juan Manuel Molina, who invited the faithful to experience these festivities with faith, fraternity, and commitment to those going through greater difficulties.

The liturgical celebration reached a special solemnity thanks to the brilliant performance of the Coral Polifónica Villa de Teguise, masterfully directed by Professor Nuvi Tavio García, whose interpretations, executed with exquisite sensitivity, enhanced each moment of the ceremony, bringing beauty, contemplation, and a deep spiritual dimension.

After the Holy Mass concluded, the revered image of Our Lady of Carmen was moved to the church porch to receive the traditional solidarity offering, one of the most endearing and significant events of these festivities.

Representatives of the Teguise City Council, cultural groups, and numerous neighbors placed a significant amount of non-perishable products at the feet of the Virgin's throne, which will be destined for Cáritas Parroquial, the entity responsible for delivering them to the families in the municipality who need them most.

It was a beautiful collective gesture that once again demonstrated that solidarity continues to be one of the most deeply rooted values of the people of Teguise. Under the maternal invocation of Our Lady of Carmen, dozens of generous hearts responded with generosity to a call that transcends the material to become a true testimony of hope, closeness, and commitment to the most vulnerable.

Traditional music was also present at this emotional event with the performance of the Agrupación Folclórica La Gran Aldea de Teguise, which offered a carefully curated repertoire of the most representative of Lanzarote folklore, highlighting the richness of the island's musical heritage and contributing to creating an atmosphere of identity, coexistence, and celebration.

As a final flourish, the Parranda Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, also from the Villa de Teguise, performed, their voices and instruments bringing a close to a day filled with sentiment, tradition, and Canarian spirit.

It was, in short, a simple, emotional, and profoundly human act, where faith and solidarity walked hand in hand under the protection of Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Once again, La Villa de Teguise demonstrated that its festivals not only keep alive the traditions inherited from past generations but also constitute a magnificent example of social commitment, reminding us that the greatest value of a town lies in the generosity of its neighbors and in the ability to lend a hand to those who need it most.
