The southern town of Yaiza begins its festivities in honor of the Virgen de Los Remedios this Friday, August 29, with the reading of the proclamation at 8:00 p.m. in the House of Culture, by the Juana and Enrique González Hernández siblings, members of the family that the town affectionately knows as 'the post office family', for their long-standing connection to the municipality's correspondence service, on a night where the Rubicón Folklore Group also offers its festival at 9:00 p.m. in the Plaza de Remedios, a gathering of song, dance, tradition, and poetry that this year invites the Los Dóniz Folklore Group, from the Orotava Valley, Tenerife. The City Council, presided over by Óscar Noda, encourages the people of Lanzarote to participate by consulting the detailed program at www.yaiza.es
Cori's concert, a special closing
“We have a very intense first weekend of festivities, where fellowship and joy will reign again, so Yaiza, as a hospitable town, invites residents and visitors of Lanzarote to participate in its Remedios celebrations. Together with the Festival Committee, we have prepared a varied program of activities that on September 8, Yaiza's Big Day, presents Coti and his band, an international artist who is touring Europe and who lands in Yaiza for the grand finale of the festivities,” says the Councilor for Festivities, Daniel Medina.
Pilgrimage this Saturday, August 30
Saturday, August 30 is equally intense. In the morning, a children's integration is scheduled with surprises and a foam party, and in the afternoon, at 6:00 p.m., there will be the traditional pilgrimage and offering to the Patron Saint with the participation of groups of music and dance and decorated animal-drawn carts. The meeting point is in the parking lot of the Yaiza soccer field.
On Sunday, August 31, there is a new children's party at noon, a Gymkhana in pairs at 5:00 p.m. in the square, so that art can then reach the Remedios church with a recital of sacred music with performances by the Yaiza Vocal Group and the Sacred Music Trio. Humor will be the protagonist in the late afternoon (8:30 p.m.) when Carmen and Chano take the stage, promising a time of laughter and fun.
