The tenth edition of the Enogastronomic Festival Saborea Lanzarote, held this Saturday and Sunday in the Villa de Teguise, and organized by the Cabildo de Lanzarote chaired by Oswaldo Betancort, has exceeded all expectations of public attendance with some 50,000 people during the two days, and with the sale of more than 420,000 tickets to consume at the different stands of the fairgrounds.
Given this unprecedented success of a festival that, after 3 years without being held, has returned stronger than ever thanks to the firm commitment of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the president Oswaldo Betancort, wanted to thank the people of Lanzarote and La Graciosa for their support and their impressive response. He also highlighted the enormous work of the companies in the sector that have participated in this edition. "My sincere congratulations to the entire island of Lanzarote and La Graciosa for this new collective achievement, especially to the business community that has made it possible. The success of Saborea Lanzarote is the success of the products of our primary sector and the recognition of an avant-garde cuisine that values the products of our land."
The president of the Cabildo also wanted to highlight "the tireless effort that has been made in the implementation of the entire infrastructure of this festival", thanking the work of the Area of Economic Promotion, the Society for Foreign Promotion of Lanzarote, the public company of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism, and the City Council of Teguise, in addition to the Chamber of Commerce and the Government of the Canary Islands, through Promotur, ICCA and GMR.
"Saborea Lanzarote is a proof that projects in which public and private entities collaborate hand in hand, work and have a great impact on the entire business and social sphere, creating economy, jobs and a unique brand image that is the result of the quality and value of our products and our industry," added the president of the Cabildo.
On the other hand, the counselor of the Tourist Centers, Ángel Vázquez, considered that the balance of this edition "could not be more gratifying." "We have set the bar very high thanks to all the citizens and the entire sector involved," he said. "The Tourist Centers, with a stand at the height of an event of these characteristics, will continue to bet on this type of initiatives that value our identity as a tourist destination through gastronomy and zero kilometer products," said Vázquez.
During the two days that the Saborea Lanzarote Festival has lasted, tastings, workshops, presentations, culinary demonstrations and music concerts have been held that have turned the Villa de Teguise and Lanzarote into the center of gastronomy of ingenuity and the use of local products, as well as a meeting point for leisure and culture.
Saborea Lanzarote is an event designed for the participation of citizens, as demonstrated by the different monographic classrooms that have been developed, with massive registrations, and that have been oriented towards the culture of wine, cheese or the main products of the Canary Islands. Special expectation has been generated by the Russian Salad Contest that has been won by María Dolores Delgado.
The media coverage that the event has had has been immense, with live connections and programs from local, regional and national media, and through social networks. The presence of great names of the current cuisine in our country, such as Jordi Cruz, Mario Sandoval or Susana Díaz, and the content of the presentations that have been developed during these two days have put the name of Saborea Lanzarote in a prominent place in the events with national and international enogastronomy.
The tenth edition of this event has taken a further step in its internationalization with the door that has been opened to the participation of the cuisine of Macaronesia, Cape Verde, Madeira, Oporto, and with the assistance of Ireland, its capital Dublin, as a gastronomic destination of reference.
