The photographic exhibition Timanfaya, Extreme Nature, by the renowned ethnographer and landscape photographer José María Barreto, opens an unprecedented cultural space in Montañas del Fuego, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the National Park.
This exhibition offers six new unpublished works that represent a fascinating visual journey through the extraordinary geology of Timanfaya, capturing the beauty, intensity and uniqueness of the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote. Through his lens, Barreto explores how natural forces have sculpted a unique setting in the world.
Ángel Vázquez, councilor of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, stressed the importance of this pioneering initiative, noting that "we continue to strongly support culture and artistic creation in our centers, as César Manrique imagined. We want our spaces to be authentic cultural references that project local and international artistic talent."
For his part, José María Barreto expressed his gratitude for the unique opportunity to exhibit in Montañas del Fuego, stating that his goal is to "transmit the fascination and respect for a natural environment that continues to surprise us and teach us the unstoppable force of nature."
The exhibition will be open to the public from this Wednesday and can be visited for the next six months in this emblematic place, further enriching the experience in one of the most visited natural spaces in Lanzarote.
With this exhibition, the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote "reaffirm their commitment to the promotion of art and culture in their facilities, consolidating themselves as precursors of new artistic proposals in harmony with the natural environment."
