The acting president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has received the afilarmónica Las Revoltosas to congratulate them on their recent distinction with the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands 2023.

Corujo highlighted the "more than deserved recognition", received on May 30 during the celebration of Canary Islands Day, "for the afilarmónica that has been an example for the women of Lanzarote and all of the Canary Islands and living history of the Carnival of our island".

Las Revoltosas, founded as a murga in the 80s, became in 1997 the first female afilarmónica in the Canary Islands, becoming true precursors of the Carnival.
