If on Saturday afternoon the attention was focused on the frozen water precipitations that left a white blanket in different areas of Lanzarote, one of them Timanfaya, at night, very close to the Mountains of Fire, in the town of Uga, the municipality of Yaiza enjoyed the continuous and abundant manifestation of music, choreography and costumes of the Los Timanfeiros troupe, which presented its fantasy 'Tangaloa' to society, with which it begins its journey through the 2023 carnival festivities.

According to their fantasy inspired by the God of the Sea of New Zealand Maori mythology, the sixty-seven members of Los Timanfeiros, among their dance and percussion groups, offered a great show that lifted the more than 500 people who followed the performance in the Uga tent from their chairs.

Predominance of blue tones and images of marine backgrounds enveloped the fantasy of collective creation from an idea of Blas Noda. Pompous costumes and headdresses, worked in the workshop space of Los Timanfeiros by the same group, give greater shine to the choreography of Jonatan Gutiérrez who walked around the stage, and also among the public, to the rhythm of the batucada directed by Willy Morales. Los Timanfeiros also brought an orchestra of 11 musicians to give more musical background to their show.

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, not only praised in Uga the good work and dedication of Los Timanfeiros, but also encouraged all the troupes not to falter in their efforts to participate in the carnival festivities, recalling that "all have had and will continue to have municipal support".

Los Timanfeiros surprised from the start with their appearance in the area set up for the public. From the overture, they wasted joy dancing, first, Caribbean rhythms. They started with a fast-paced version of the mythical salsa theme 'Aguanile', a hard, very hard proclamation, "aguanile, mai, mai...", followed with good merengue from Dominican lands and finished with batucada and orchestra. The response from the public and the images are worth more than any text.

There was also a lot of music before and after the performance of Los Timanfeiros. It was the K-Narias who raised the curtain on the festive night with their explosion of singing and dancing for a closing with Dj and musical group. The municipality of Yaiza took its first sip of Carnival and awaits in March four frenetic days in the tourist town of Playa Blanca, from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19. The Yaiza City Council will opportunely communicate a program full of shows and musical surprises.
