Noveleros win the IX Children's Murga Contest

The children's Murga Los Noveleros swept the night this Sunday at the IX Children's Murga Contest of the Arrecife Carnival, after winning the first prizes in the two categories that are contested each year (Interpretation, Lyrics and Music, on the one hand, and Fantasy, Design and Costumes, on the other) in addition to winning the Buche prize and the accessit for Presentation.

For its part, the Murga Los Intoxicaditos won the second prize in both categories, the Chau-Chau the two third prizes, and Los Titiñecos the accessit; all prizes that were presented by the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the deputy mayor and councilor of Fiestas, Echedey Eugenio.

The magic and illusion of Carnival flooded the stage of the Agramar Fairgrounds this Sunday with the celebration of this ninth edition of the Children's Murga Contest; an event framed within the program designed by the Festival Area of the capital's City Council, directed by the deputy mayor Echedey Eugenio, in which the four groups demonstrated their talent and creativity in a day full of music, humor and criticism and delighted the public with their original stagings, ingenious lyrics and their waste of energy on stage.

The gala was hosted by the journalist Paola Delgado, while in the backstage, the presenter Leandro Martín collected live impressions from the participants after each performance.

The first murga to perform was Los Intoxicaditos, from the seaside neighborhood of Valterra and with a 30-year history. Under the direction of Francis García and the presidency of Cristina Santana, he presented his fantasy "What are we going as? Well, from the fine tribe of Valterra, my girl!", designed by his own director.

They performed the songs "Survivor All Star? No way! Survivors are you and I" and "From above, I tell you what I see", with which they managed to conquer the public from the first moment.

Next, Los Chau-Chau took the stage, a murga founded in 2016 that this year presented a fantasy inspired by Roman times entitled "Ave Caesar, those who are going to sing salute you... We march as true Romans to conquer this world full of fantasy and pay homage to our emperor, because even Rome ends up surrendering to magic", designed by Lolo Arredondo. Its president, Pedro Hernández (Pyter), and its director, Haridian Sánchez, led a vibrant performance with the songs "How difficult it is to be a baby" and "My imaginary friend".

From the neighborhood of Maneje came Noveleros, a murga also founded in 2016 and composed of 29 boys and girls under the musical direction of Kiara Cáceres Martín and the presidency of Juany Luzardo. With a fantasy created by themselves entitled "From a surprise box a novelero is born", he presented the songs "Traveling murga camp, from Lanzarote to the whole world" and "ChatYoQSé has almost all the answers", with which they showed off their originality and freshness.

To close the contest, Los Titiñecos took the stage, the youngest murga in the contest, founded in 2023 in the Titerroy neighborhood. With 29 members, under the musical direction of Yurayma Cejas and the presidency of Luis Tavío, he presented the fantasy "Unidentified flying object. The Marciañecos have been teleported to the Arrecife Carnival", a design made by the murga itself. Their songs "The craziest hand" and "Today I felt like being a pilot" made the public enjoy the contest until the last minute.

After the performances, the members of the juries of the two modalities retired to deliberate and the stage was occupied by the show "All the emotions of Carnival", in which all the students of the MT Dance school participated, which not only enlivened the wait but also surprised the entire audience.

The IX Children's Murga Contest of the Arrecife Carnival 2025 once again demonstrated that the carnival quarry is still more alive than ever, making it clear that the future is assured in the hands of the little ones.
