The Cabildo of Lanzarote has started preparations for the V edition of the Island Christmas, which will feature performances by various musical groups from December 1 to January 5, 2023.

The Minister of Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Alberto Aguiar, held a meeting with representatives of the Culture areas of the municipalities of the Island and with folk groups to define the planned activities and performances.

At the meeting, the minister detailed that this Christmas proposal will have a budget of around 100,000 euros, increasing the 2021 allocation by 25%. On the other hand, Aguiar explained that the councils of the Island will be in charge of defining where and when the groups will perform and announced that the V Island Christmas will feature 19 folk groups, 13 parrandas, 10 choirs and five Christmas ranches.

“Christmas is an ideal time to enjoy culture in all its manifestations and, above all, to do so with family and loved ones," said the minister, defending the increase in the budget for this event.

“We will soon announce activities and performances framed in a program that is already in the final stretch of its preparation and that we are convinced will bring the Christmas spirit to the streets of the entire Island," concluded Aguiar.
