After alternating political life with teaching for many years, Inés Rojas has launched 'No Doubt About Gender. Expressionary Dictionary', a guide to making more inclusive use of language and avoiding, among other things, making women invisible.

"As we speak in a generalized masculine, there comes a time when really the female part of the human gender practically does not appear and that is not just any detail, it is not a minor detail, it is very important, because if not society, childhood, youth, do not have the female reference that is so necessary," said on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero the former president of the Cabildo and councilor of the Government of the Canary Islands.

In this regard, Rojas explained that it is not about always "unfolding" words when expressing ourselves, but about using other formulas. "For example, you, the media, always say that businessmen have met with unions, or whoever. If they say businessmen, businesswomen are not taken into account, but if we say the business sector, then the expression is undoubtedly correct. Hence the title of my book," she detailed.

Precisely, she also gives importance to the media in her book, as she considers that "they are the ones who truly transmit the evolution of society." Likewise, the family is also a very important pillar for Inés Rojas when it comes to "not instilling some things in boys and others in girls."

"That women and girls have as a reference that women are also entrepreneurs, that they also study science, that if they have not done so until now it is not for lack of capacity, but because we had a directed society, boys to one side and girls to the other," added Rojas, who also grew up in a rural environment, in a small town like Soo, away from the capital, where she believes that "teaching was vital."

"The knowledge they transmitted to you was absolutely important. And if they transmitted some things to the boys, if they could study, and others to the girls, of course, we were going towards the more feminine careers," she added.

In addition, Inés Rojas was born "with significant deafness" which meant that "she had more difficulty acquiring knowledge at the corresponding ages." Thus, she indicates that her whole life "has always revolved around language and the way we express ourselves" and she talks about all this in her book, which can be purchased "in practically all the bookstores in Arrecife" (El Puente, Diama, Fajardo or Librería Lanzarote), as well as in the Juncar bookstore in San Bartolomé and in Tinajo.

Finally, Rojas thanked the "reception" that the book is having. "I have already been called from some bookstores to replenish," she concluded.
