The Rancho de Pascua de Teguise moved last Thursday night from the town of Teguise to Arrecife to participate in the "Navidad Isleña" program, in which it performed in the church of San Ginés and to the public gathered there.
The musical group represented the most traditional of its cultural legacy, making the entrance to the church with El Corrido until reaching the Nativity Scene, where the parish priest, Juan Carlos Medina, was waiting with the image of the baby Jesus.
At this moment, the members performed the musical piece known as "Danza del Salto"; it has no lyrics, it is only music and it is performed by the shepherds while playing the tambourines and approaching the baby Jesus for the adoration and foot-kissing ceremony. This moment is very peculiar because of its advances and retreats, crossed dances and reverences, where the dancers never turn their backs on the image of the baby Jesus.
The "Desechas" is another of the pieces that the Rancho de Pascua de Teguise also performs in each of its performances and is sung only by the "Cantadores de adelante", and the "tercios" choirs. It is a religious song that is performed while in the church during the foot-kissing.
The Rancho de Pascua de Teguise finished its performance making its usual exit from the interior of the church to the Plaza de Las Palmas.
