Following the success of its first edition, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Arrecife City Council, through its Youth and Culture departments, is finalizing the celebration of the Lanzarote Urban Contest 2025, a contest that consolidates its strong commitment to young talent and urban culture. It will be held on Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21 at the Agramar Fairgrounds in Arrecife. Public representatives from both corporations met this week to finalize the last details of the great event.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, wanted to emphasize that "the youth of Lanzarote and La Graciosa have talent, desire and creativity, and this type of initiative allows us to showcase it in a big way. We are not only committed to youth leisure, but also to an innovative cultural model that places our island on the map of major urban festivals."

For his part, the deputy mayor of the Arrecife City Council, Echedey Eugenio, celebrated that the capital "is consolidating itself as the epicenter of urban culture in the Canary Islands. This type of event not only revitalizes our capital, but also strengthens the involvement of our youth."

Likewise, the island's vice president, María Jesús Tovar, recalled after the work meeting that thanks to the FDCAN funds, events can be held "that have a real and positive impact on youth and island cultural development. The HCU 2025 is an example of how well-directed public funding can transform a space into an engine of talent, cohesion and tourist projection."

The Institution's Youth Councilor, Aroa Revelo, explained that the Cabildo is not limited to programming concerts. "We are creating an island cultural landscape where young people are the protagonists. We want them to feel that this stage also belongs to them." While the Arrecife Youth Councilor, Rosmen Quevedo, stressed how "the Lanzarote Urban Contest is an opportunity for young people to express themselves, train and connect with national and international references."

With this and other similar initiatives, the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Arrecife City Council continue working to position the island and its capital as youth references, for alternative and healthy leisure.

A lot of local talent

The Lanzarote Urban Contest (HCU) was born with a clear vocation: to be a springboard for emerging artists from the Archipelago. Therefore, it includes the annual celebration of the Honor Canario Urban Fest.

Next Friday and Saturday we will see on stage the five finalists who will be known this Tuesday, and who will shine as opening acts at the HCU 2025, where they will share the stage for two days with big names in national and international urban music such as Cali y El Dandee, JC Reyes, Bejo, Sara Socas, Chuty and Daniela Blasco, among other artists.

Along with the music contest, the festival also features the LZ Urban Dance competition, a sample of the richness and diversity of urban culture that has managed to bring together more than 150 local young people between both modalities.

The Culture Councilor, Jesús Machín, remarked that "the young people of Lanzarote and La Graciosa not only consume urban culture, they produce it, transform it and export it. The Urban Contest and the Honor Canario Urban Fest are the reflection of a youth that has voice, rhythm and its own identity."

The HCU 2025 will not only be music and dance. The venue will have spaces designed for a comprehensive urban experience, which includes a gastro area, chill area, leisure spaces and complementary activities.

All this in a safe and accessible environment, with a specific protocol to guarantee the responsible attendance of minors.
