The Arrecife City Council has recovered the candlelit concerts of the Charco de San Sinés after years of suspension. In this new edition of the 'Candlelight Concert', eighty people will perform on stage, which on this occasion will be in front of the Atlántida Cinema.

The concert, recovered for the island by the City Council led by Yonathan de León, will be free of charge. It will begin at 9:30 p.m., next to the place where the city of Puerto del Arrecife was created, which in 2023 commemorates the 225th anniversary of the founding of the municipality after the creation of the Parish of San Ginés.

Yonathan de León, accompanied by the Councilor for Commerce, Tourism and Sports, Eli Merino Betancort, and the manager of the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote, Roberto Fuentes, presented this fifth edition of the 'Candlelight Concert' this morning.

At the press conference, held in La Recova, the Councilor for Tourism, Eli Merino, highlighted that her Area has directly organized this event, highly desired by the citizens, and that has enjoyed great success in its previous editions. To this end, Arrecife Tourism has included this celebration within the actions to revitalize the capital of Lanzarote that it is undertaking, together with the new Government group, to relaunch Arrecife as the epicenter of events on the island.

The Department of Tourism, the councilor remarked, that the organization of the concert is supervised, in this new edition, by the City Council, from its Department, and has the close collaboration of the 'Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote', whose manager present at the press conference "thanked the decisive support of the City Council and the Department of Tourism in the recovery and organization of this classical music event".

Roberto Fuentes detailed that on Saturday, in the Chaco de San Ginés, 42 choir members, 29 musicians and 4 soloists will participate under the direction of maestro José María Vicente. In the Reyes Barlet choir and the musicians of the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote will perform Mozart's 'Requiem'.

This edition will also feature performances by baritone Augusto Brito, soprano Satomi Morimoto, and tenor Carlos Javier Méndez, along with the participation of Silvia Zorita, promoter of the lyrical world in the TV Canarias program 'Somos Gente Fantástica', and José Hijar, director of the choir.

The presentation today concluded with the intervention of the mayor Yonathan de León, who was pleased with the recovery of this classical concert for the city of Arrecife. He congratulated the Councilor for Tourism, Eli Merino, for managing to close this organization in this short period of time, where many sectoral permits are necessary, such as those from Coasts and Heritage, and making it possible for the Candlelight Concert to return to the calendar of municipal events.

Yonathan de León emphasized that the municipal group he presides over works to revitalize the city and proof of this commitment are the many, and good events that are being organized in the capital of Lanzarote. Many of them organized directly by the City Council, and others by firms that have public sponsorship, or the support of other administrations and are developed in cultural spaces of Arrecife.

The mayor detailed that, for the Candlelight Concert, with free tickets, about two thousand seats have been programmed between bleachers and chairs. And in the scenography will be located more than a thousand candles that will accompany this unique show in the Canary Islands. A total of 60 volunteers will be in the coordination work for the success of this. The hotel establishments on the banks of the Charco de San Ginés will turn off their lighting, as in previous editions, so that attendees can enjoy the classical concert with the unique lighting of the moon and the thousand candles.

Yonathan de León invited citizens and visitors to enjoy these events where also this coming weekend Arrecife will be the epicenter of culture and music with activities in the Charco de San Ginés, Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, and the Islote de la Fermina, with the concerts of Noche de Fermina, which also have the support and sponsorship of the capital City Council.
