The Department of Festivities of the Arrecife City Council celebrated this Thursday, August 24, the first choreographic contest “Dance On” of the San Ginés Festivities, where a hundred participants competed in different dance modalities.
The José Ramírez Cerdá Park was the stage chosen for a successful exhibition of Latin, Urban, K-Pop, Flamenco and Contemporary Jazz dances, which thrilled the audience.
The gala, presented by Carmen Nieves Pérez, brought together soloists, couples and groups from different parts of the Canary Islands. The professional jury, made up of dance experts Noelia Torres (Gran Canaria), Daida Cerdeña (Fuerteventura) and Patricia Darías (Tenerife), had the difficult task of selecting the winners from a very high level of competition.
In addition to the competition, the evening included special performances that enriched the show. The Lanzarote singer Keysi, a pole dance exhibition, and the presentations of the drag Luck, Ona and the MTDance school kept the public entertained throughout the night.
The contest, artistically directed by Ayoze Medina and Tatiana Niz, culminated with the awards ceremony. Sara and Santiago took first place, followed by Tania Marcer in second place, and Alejandro Peraza, who won third prize.
This new event, which is added to the calendar of the San Ginés festivities, has proven to be a great success and is expected to be present again in next year's program. The Councilor for Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, expressed his gratitude to all the participants and attendees, and reaffirmed the Arrecife City Council's commitment to continue supporting and promoting local culture and talent.
