About two thousand people enjoy the summer Traveling Cinema of Tenique Cultural

Summer Traveling Cinema 2026 concludes its tour of Lanzarote with an extraordinary assessment and a broad response from the public, both from Lanzarote and visitors. The project, promoted by Tenique Cultural, has brought the best cinema to the seven municipalities of the island during the months of July and August, recovering the spirit of old summer cinemas and proposing a close, rigorous, and family-friendly cultural experience. 

Throughout this edition, the initiative has held sessions in Arrecife, Haría, San Bartolomé, Teguise, Yaiza, Tías, and Tinajo, filling squares and public spaces on all occasions. The screenings reached full capacity, confirming citizen interest in accessible, decentralized cultural proposals linked to local life. 

As Javier Fuentes Feo, president of Tenique Cultural, stated at the end of the last session, “this project has once again shown that a cultural proposal can be made that does not lose critical and analytical rigor, while citizens enjoy themselves in a collective environment.” He continued: “The Summer Traveling Cinema has once again achieved a perfect combination of shared enjoyment and cultural rigor. We are very happy with the result of this fourth edition.” 

Between July and August, films such as Men in Black, Persepolis, A Bronx Tale, Back to the Future, among others, were screened in order to propose a balanced program between cinematic quality, entertainment, interest, and the capacity to produce a better collective experience in each session. To this end, each film included a brief introduction and a subsequent discussion, in order to contextualize the works and foster a deeper relationship with them. Seven sessions also featured relevant figures from Canarian culture, who led the analysis and conversation: Tomás Pérez Esau, Pepe Vera, Juli Mesa, Javier Alonso, Karina Courtois, María Sanz Esteve, and part of the young jury that participated in the 2024 Film Showcase, Alma Martí, Hugo Saavedra, and Valentín Ortíz.

Outdoor cinema nights allowed for sharing time in community and recovering a simple way of experiencing cinema and culture: sitting, watching, and enjoying in company. The balance of this edition reinforces the importance of maintaining cultural proposals that reach different points of the island territory and that allow citizens to participate in quality activities close to their environment and accessible to those who cannot move. In this sense, the project has contributed to complementing the cultural offering throughout the territory with activities that promote coexistence.
