The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try on June 25 in Gran Canaria a father accused of repeatedly raping his 10-year-old daughter in Lanzarote.

The events date back to the summer of 2017 when the accused lived in his parents' home with his daughter. According to the indictment of the Public Prosecutor, the accused J.R.D. used his relationship of kinship and trust with the minor to allegedly rape her for a month.

The Prosecutor's Office states that the events allegedly took place in the home of the paternal grandparents, taking advantage of the fact that neither they nor their partner were at home at those times.

The Ministry points out that the accused was "fully aware of the disadvantageous situation" in which the minor was, due to her physical constitution and her degree of maturity. At that time, he is accused of touching her breasts, buttocks, and genital area, as well as making her perform fellatio and penetrating her vaginally without any protection up to seven times.

The minor has suffered moral damages, with symptoms compatible with depression, feelings of inadequacy, social alienation, and suicidal ideation.

For all these reasons, the Public Prosecutor's Office is asking for the accused 12 years in prison, special disqualification for any profession or trade, paid or unpaid, that involves contact with minors for 17 years, a ban on approaching the victim within 500 meters and any place frequented by her, as well as a ban on communicating with her by any means for 32 years.

Once released from prison, he requests supervised release for ten years and participation in sexual education programs for pedophiles during that decade.

The Prosecutor's Office asks the minor's father to compensate the girl's mother, as she is the minor's legal representative, with 50,000 euros for moral damages.
