Venia, the only union of lawyers in Spain, will present the project online next Thursday from Lanzarote. "We are the union that represents more than 153,000 practicing lawyers in Spain, out of a total of more than 243,000 between practicing and non-practicing (data from the census of lawyers as of 12/31/22 from the CGAE)", he highlighted in a statement.

In a statement issued by the delegate of the Venia Union in Lanzarote, Eduardo Máximo Morato López, they state that: "We are not looking for armchairs, we are looking for solutions. We are not fighting for alms. We fight for what corresponds to us in the union field under two fronts: the political union and the legal union. We are politically incorrect because the others are already correct, and you can see the result: now we are the donkeys of all trades and the cinderella of Justice. The privileges of others are at the expense of our dignity, our rights, our slow, suffocating, but inexorable social regression as the main guarantors of the rights of litigants. We cannot allow it. We are disruptive and groundbreaking because we want to rebuild the future of lawyers to regain the dignity that has been stolen from us with all kinds of deceptions. Our adversaries (anchored in their privileges to the detriment of lawyers and litigants) are the past. We are the future. Enough of false promises! Enough of the neglect and institutional mistreatment of lawyers! Dignifying justice involves dignifying ourselves. Our time has come: IT'S TIME TO DEFEND OURSELVES!", the union added in a statement.

To mark the presentation of Venia, they invite practicing lawyers on the island to attend the presentation. "A presentation will be made with national and local demands."

We can anticipate that the national demands will be:

  1. National Statute of Lawyers.
  2. Free legal assistance.
  3. Lines of aid and financing for lawyers.
  4. Retirement pension for lawyers: equalization supplement.
  5. Mutual Societies of the Legal Profession, Social Security and taxation of contributions to mutual societies.
  6. Unification and simplification of the legal profession's representation bodies and elimination of everything superfluous.
  7. Adoption of urgent measures in the implementation of new technologies in schools and in the Justice Administration.

Regarding the demands of a local nature within the district of the association, they anticipate that they will be "diverse and very specific."

Likewise, Venia asks to join the WhatsApp group of the union in Lanzarote or send an email to the delegation on the island.
