The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will judge A.I.A.O., a woman accused of introducing 146 capsules of cocaine at the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, on September 18 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The events took place on the morning of July 27, 2024, when she arrived on the island on flight VY2472 of the Vueling company from Barcelona. The accused allegedly hid more than 1.4 kilograms of cocaine, with a purity of 68%, in her hand luggage.
According to the Prosecutor's Office's indictment, the seized drug would have amounted to 85,891 euros on the market. For these events, the accused has been in provisional prison since July 28, 2024.
Along with the cocaine, the woman had two mobile phones, four rings, a necklace and two earrings, as well as a backpack, a bag and 413.9 euros seized.
The Prosecutor's Office classifies the events as a crime against public health, in the form of notorious importance, for substances that cause serious damage to health. The Public Ministry asks for eight years in prison for her, disqualification from exercising the right to passive suffrage and a fine of 50,000 euros.
