The Civil Guard of Lanzarote has arrested a 58-year-old woman as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against Public Health in its drug trafficking form for allegedly carrying 146 capsules of cocaine inside her hand luggage

The events occurred on July 27, when the Civil Guard, in its own functions of the fiscal and border analysis and investigation unit (UDAIFF) and the Tax Guard, was carrying out a preventive surveillance in the arrivals hall of the César Manrique airport, randomly inspecting several passengers on a flight from Barcelona.

In the routine inspection of people and luggage, the appropriate checks were carried out on a passenger's hand luggage with the X-ray detection machine, locating organic material among them, which led the Civil Guard to carry out a more exhaustive manual control.

The circumstance is that the passenger denied at all times carrying anything strange inside her luggage, although after the exploration of the same and inside it, seven tablets were found, containing between 20 and 22 capsules respectively, reaching a total of 146 capsules of a white substance (cocaine).

Immediately, the corresponding tests were carried out, which tested positive for this substance, reaching a total weight of 1 kilo and 640 grams of the seized material, proceeding to the arrest of the alleged perpetrator who was placed at the disposal of the Duty Court of Arrecife.
