The Las Palmas Prosecutor's Office is requesting six years in prison for a teacher at the Doctor Alfonso Spínola public school, located in Teguise, for allegedly abusing a 10-year-old student to whom he taught French classes in the fifth grade of primary school. The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will hold the trial in the capital of Gran Canaria on Tuesday of next week.

The events, according to the Public Prosecutor in his indictment, occurred in the days before and close to October 21, 2019 when the investigated, "moved by his sexual attraction to minors, with lascivious intent and with the intention of satisfying his most reprehensible sexual instincts, went to his student, 10 years of age, and began to touch her back and thigh, even reaching her hand between the thigh and the intimate parts of his minor student."

As a consequence of what happened, the girl "has suffered an emotional affectation proportional to the acts committed on her by the accused," describes the Prosecutor's Office.

The teacher, Wenceslao P. R., a career civil servant with a permanent position in the aforementioned educational center, is accused of an alleged crime of sexual abuse of minors under 16 years of age and also faces an absolute disqualification for a period of 12 years and a prohibition from approaching the domicile, place of work and any other place frequented by the student at a distance of less than 500 meters, for a time of 16 years.
