The Instituto del Cine Canarias (ICC), inaugurated in 2017 by a Canarian business group and the Instituto del Cine Madrid, has just launched the call for an intensive course that allows you to complete the first year of all its specialties in just six months, between April and October.

The Institute launches this new call after having become independent from the Instituto de Cine Madrid with the help of Ángel Astudillo, its new investment partner, which allows it to gain autonomy and competitiveness to adjust its offer to the growing local demand and carry out new projects.

For its director, Sebastián Alvarado, “the objective is to gradually grow the school as the industry evolves in the Archipelago, and consolidate ourselves as a solid training alternative in cinema, with competitive capacity as an academic destination compared to Madrid or Barcelona.”

The call, which will remain open until the second week of April, gives access to a common first year in the specialties of Film Direction, Cinematography, Film and TV Editing, Film Production or Film and TV Screenwriting, or to cover the first year of three other degrees: Interpretation, Makeup, Hairdressing and Characterization or Voiceover, Dubbing and Documentary. The main advantage of this call is the possibility of directly linking to the second year of studies in each specialty, which will start in October 2024.

To face this new cycle after seven years of operation, the ICC has recently renewed its identity, premiering a new image: “when facing a new stage as exciting as the current one, it was necessary for our image to convey that same enthusiasm and freshness of the challenges and possibilities that are presented to us and, in some way, close a chapter to open a new one,” explains Sebastián Alvarado, its director.

The Instituto del Cine Canarias has more than 700m2 of specialized facilities, with two sets, a recording room, a makeup room, a workshop and different multipurpose classrooms; and it is the only film school in Spain that has a technical equipment rental service – cameras, lenses and accessories – at its headquarters, under the name of Welab Canary Islands.
