The Department of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands published this Wednesday, September 6, in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) the scholarships and grants for students who complete official university studies of degree and master's degree during the academic year 2023/2024 in any public university in the Spanish territory, with a total investment of "10.5 million euros."
Those interested have "until September 30" to submit applications, which will begin to count from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, and will be done exclusively by "electronic means, being necessary that the applicant student has any electronic signature system."
These scholarships are intended to "cover the expenses derived from the payment of public prices for tuition, transportation and residence of higher university education." For people residing in the Canary Islands who pursue university studies in public centers during the 2023/2024 academic year and do not meet the requirements to be beneficiaries of all or some of the modalities of university scholarships convened by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.
The scholarships of the Government of the Canary Islands to which this call refers establish lower academic requirements and raise certain income thresholds with respect to those of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. The complementarity of the scholarships of the Government of the Canary Islands with respect to those of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training is materialized in the fact that the students who meet the requirements of this call, but not those of the more demanding state call, will be beneficiaries of the former.
The insular fact implies an additional economic effort for families residing in the Canary Islands, which particularly affects those who reside in non-capital islands. For this reason, a differentiated treatment is appropriate for applicants who must carry out their university studies on islands other than their residence or in the Peninsula.
You can consult the complete bases on the website of the Government of the Canary Islands. In addition, the application form can be downloaded from the website of the General Directorate of Universities and Research and on the Electronic Headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands.
