The project "We Create Opportunities in Hospitality and Tourism" promoted by the Martínez Abolafio Foundation and the Mahou San Miguel Foundation in Lanzarote has a 90% job placement rate in its FP modality.
The program, present in ten Spanish cities, arrived in Lanzarote in 2023 with the help of the Martínez Foundation and aims to improve the professional training of people in vulnerable situations on the island of Lanzarote.
The program began in September 2023 with 20 students, enrolled in the Intermediate Level Training Cycle in Restaurant Services at the C.I.F.P. Zonzamas, the only public center that offers this training on the island.
Subsequently, 15 students have joined from the level II bar and cafeteria professional certificate, developed by Akacenter, within the framework of the training subsidized by the Canary Employment Service for unemployed people.
As fundamental axes of the project, the students enrolled in the educational centers attached to the program receive specialized and technical training through master classes, training in transversal competences through group dynamics carried out by specialized personnel from the Adsis Foundation, scholarships, and support in the search for internships in establishments.
We Create Opportunities in Hospitality and Tourism is a program promoted by Mahou San Miguel Foundation at the national level for 10 years aimed at training talented young people and turning them into the hospitality professionals of tomorrow.
This pioneering training initiative "offers students a 360º vision of this sector, facilitating their access to the labor market and encouraging them to develop their professional and personal goals, with personalized monitoring and support according to their specific needs."
The Martínez Abolafio Canary Foundation was born 10 years ago with the purpose of contributing to the development of a more creative, sustainable, and inclusive society in the Canary Islands and Equatorial Guinea.
Its mission is to develop projects and initiatives, own or in collaboration, that connect and activate talent. In the Canary Islands, the priority axis is to improve education, vocational training, and the labor insertion of the active population, with a special focus on groups at risk of social exclusion.
