Launch 500 scholarships to study high school in Canada and the United States with all expenses paid

The Amancio Ortega Foundation has officially opened the call for its scholarship program to study 1st year of Bachillerato in Canada and the United States during the 2027-2028 academic year.

The initiative offers a total of 500 places aimed at students currently in their 4th year of ESO in any educational center in Spain, also reserving a quota of 90 scholarships for students enrolled in the Autonomous Community of Galicia. Interested applicants can complete the submission of their applications through the official portal (becas.faortega.org) until the deadline set for September 23.

This scholarship fully covers all costs associated with the academic stay abroad. The program covers tuition at a local public high school, accommodation and living expenses with a host family, round-trip airfare with corresponding transfers, medical and accident insurance, as well as prior training and continuous tutoring throughout the entire course. Of the total beneficiaries, 300 students will undertake their stay in Canada and 200 in the United States, with the destination being assigned by a notary-supervised draw among the selected students.

What are the requirements?

To be eligible for one of these 500 places, candidates must meet a series of academic and administrative requirements. It is essential to be enrolled in the 4th year of ESO in the Spanish educational system and to have completed the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years of ESO in Spain without having undertaken stays abroad exceeding four months.

Academically, a minimum average grade of 8 in the 3rd year of ESO is required. Likewise, the tax certification of personal income tax (IRPF) for the previous year from the family unit must be attached, and applicants must possess a DNI or NIE, with the commitment to process a Spanish passport before March 2027 if selected.

The selection process is structured in several elimination phases that weigh the average grade of the 3rd year of ESO, family per capita income, and language proficiency.

Following the documentary review and correction of errors scheduled for the first days of October, the 2,500 applicants with the highest scores will be summoned on October 13 to take an online English test between October 19 and 31 of the same month.

Subsequently, the 1,000 classified individuals with the best results will advance to the virtual personal interview phase, scheduled from November 30 to December 3, where they must also provide a three-minute personal presentation video. The resolution with the definitive list of the 500 scholarship recipients will be published on the foundation's website on December 16.
