The LanzaroTEA Association and the Department of Culture of the Arrecife City Council are organizing this Saturday and Sunday some training days where professionals who work with autism daily as well as autistics in the first person will meet, with a series of presentations.
The conference will take place at the Arrecife Civic Center, on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 and the program includes important speakers at the national level. They will be totally free and the entrance is totally free (for professionals, family members, teachers, etc.).
During Saturday 17 in the morning, there will be three talks by professionals from the island such as Ianire Vidorreta (Tacto Children's Occupational Therapy Center), Leticia de León (Maday Child and Youth Development Center) or Carmen Gloria Medina (Yoyi). This day will address important issues in the development of children with autism such as their education, sensory integration, or visual aids.
In the afternoon, there will be presentations by four adults on the spectrum, Cristina Santiago (teacher on the spectrum), Sara Codina (author of the book "Neurodivina y punto, 40 years being autistic and I didn't know it"), Leonarda Calvo (lawyer on the spectrum) and Laura Cubas (cartoonist and president of the ArTEA Association). These presentations will address the causes and consequences of late diagnosis to the necessary support within the classroom, through career guidance in the spectrum or the strengths of the autistic brain.
On Sunday, the day will open with a talk dedicated to families with Haría García (transpersonal coach) on the self-care of caregivers. In addition, for the Autism Pride Day that is celebrated on the same day, there will be a round table where families and autistics in the first person will talk about various issues. Finally, the writer Sara Codina (autistic diagnosed at 41 years) will present and sign her book.
Therefore, from the LanzaroTEA Association they encourage you to really know autism from all points of view by attending these free entry days, concludes the association.
