Yaiza fulfilled "with flying colors" its expectations in the two dramatized performances performed this Wednesday on the opening day of the International Tourism Fair FITUR, they point out from the City Council.
The institution chaired by Óscar Noda opted for "art to disseminate the promotion of the municipality with a suggestive staging that, based on the recent history of the Canary Islands, which begins in Papagayo, its title of Historic City, the volcanic eruptions of 1700 and the socio-economic rebirth of the municipality, launches messages rich in cultural and landscape values, and emotions", they point out.
Representatives of different public administrations, delegations from tourist municipalities in the Canary Islands and Spain, tourist employers, business people from the tourism sector in the Archipelago and news media "positively valued Yaiza's innovative proposal that surprised with its script and performance", they highlight from the Consistory. The play is written and directed by Salvador Leal and the interpretation is done by three actors from Yaiza: César Rijo and the siblings Cathaysa and Octavio González.
“Yaiza is committed to Culture and this year at FITUR we decided to bring an unprecedented dramatized work because we are convinced that it is an excellent way to promote our tourist strengths, taking into account that we are a municipality recognized for its history”, said Mayor Óscar Noda.
The Councilor for Tourism, Ángel Domínguez, highlighted that “audiovisual support helps the story and enriches the message that we wanted to convey. Beaches, culture and sports are also signs of our identity”.
The City Council presented two functions at FITUR, the first of them at the stand of the Association of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands (AMTC), "of which Yaiza is a part together with twelve other destinations with specific weight in the Islands market, so much so that together they add up to more than 80 percent of the tourist beds in the Canary Islands, while the second function of the day took place at the stand of the car rental company CICAR– Cabrera Medina, in the presence of one of the owners of the firm and current director of the same, Mamerto Cabrera, also fascinating with the southern proposal", explained from the Consistory.
"The history of Yaiza was rewritten by the volcano, says the scenic narration, therefore, it must be identified and remembered: Yaiza, is its name, the south of Lanzarote its place. To visit or return"; concludes the City Council.
