Turismo de Islas Canarias held this Thursday the first draw of 4,000 La Palma Tourist Vouchers among 101,650 residents in Spain, which it considers "a great success of participation" since it has only been 15 days since the deadline to register for this program was activated.
It will be in a month when the second and last draw of the remaining 4,000 virtual cards of 250 euros will be held, so those interested can continue registering. The vouchers can be consumed in the 192 companies registered so far, 180 of them repeaters from the previous edition and 12 newly incorporated.
This program, designed to boost the arrival of Canary and peninsular tourists to Isla Bonita and thus continue to reactivate the palm economy after the eruption of the volcano, has a budget of 2 million euros, co-financed with the State Secretariat for Tourism.
Each card includes 250 euros
Each virtual card or voucher has a value of 250 euros and allows the beneficiary to allocate it to accommodation, catering or tourist activities in La Palma as long as they are attached to the program. To participate, you only have to be of legal age and resident in Spain and with a single registration you can access both draws. If the person is not awarded in the first, their registration will remain active for the draw to be held at the end of May.
The winners can enjoy their virtual card until December 31 of this year in the establishments that have joined the initiative are accommodations, restaurants, cafeterias, active tourism and cetacean watching companies. This is a wide range of complementary activities that make the tractor effect of the program reach the entire local economic fabric, strongly affected by the volcanic eruption that occurred in September 2021.
The palm companies in the sector can continue to adhere to this program. Businesses must be located in La Palma and registered in the General Tourist Registry. In addition, it is essential to have a physical POS so that beneficiaries can consume the 250 euros paying directly at the establishment.
