Traffic in the Port of Arrecife increases by 24.43% in just one year

The number of passengers has increased by 10.55%, goods by 24.04% and container traffic by 35.79%

Traffic in the Port of Arrecife has increased in June by 24.43% compared to the same month of 2021, according to data from the Port Authority of Las Palmas.

In addition, passenger traffic on a regular basis has increased by 10.55% in the capital of Lanzarote, while goods have reached 24.04% growth and container traffic 35.79% in just one year.

Regarding the port system of the province of Las Palmas, which includes the ports of Las Palmas, Arrecife, Puerto del Rosario, Arinaga and Salinetas, it maintains the growth of total traffic in the accumulated between January and June 2022, comparing it with 2019, by 9.10%, but if the damages of last year are taken into account, the growth is very substantial, of only 0.87%.

As a whole, in the accumulated year to June, passenger traffic in the province increased by 97.71% (69.43% in regular line and 167.71% in cruises); tons of goods decreased by -0.22%; frozen fish increased by 6.37%; bunkering increased by 11.24%; TEUs decreased by ‐1.24%; and ro-ro grew by 25.23% in units and 27.34% in tons.

For his part, the president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Luis Ibarra, has pointed out that "the economic recovery of the Canary Islands, via the reactivation of tourism, is reflected in port parameters such as regular passengers between islands, goods and aviation fuel".
