Canary Islands and Lanzarote once again hold a prominent position within the seventh edition of the list “The 150+ Most Influential in Tourism in Spain”, driven by the consultancy firm SERGESTUR, which this year incorporates a new category: “Top Tourism Leaders by 150+”. This new list, aimed at recognizing 65 professionals who have been part of the ranking since its first edition, includes seven professionals in the Canary Islands, among whom is the president of the Lanzarote Tourism Federation (FTL) and ASOLAN, Susana Pérez.
The new category “Top Tourism Leaders” recognizes those profiles who have participated continuously in all editions of the list since its creation, constituting the most stable and representative block of the project. "Being part of this group of consolidated leaders once again is a source of pride, but, above all, a responsibility to continue driving a more sustainable, innovative, and competitive tourism model, focused on people and talent management," stated Pérez
In addition, the president of the Lanzarote tourism employers' association has highlighted that in this edition, the Canary Islands also stand out for their female contribution. In total, the Top Tourism Leaders list includes 13 women from all over Spain, and two of them are Canarian: Susana Pérez herself and **Victoria López**, president of Grupo Fedola and vice-president of AshotelThe other five Canary Islands professionals recognized in this category are **Jorge Marichal**, president of CEHAT and Ashotel; **Oscar Palacios**, managing partner & chief business development officer of Canarian Hospitality; Ignacio Moll de Alba, founder and editor of Tourinews; David Hoys, director of consulting and project analysis at Dyrecto; and Zoilo Alemán, director of ExpoMeloneras and president of the Canary Islands MICE Industry Association
The list of The 150+ Most Influential Figures in Tourism in Spain is compiled through a committee made up of highly respected professionals from the sector, who reach a consensus and balance the nominations. The final validation and signature of the document correspond to SERGESTUR, as the entity promoting the project.
The official presentation of this seventh edition and the new Top Tourism Leaders category will take place on Wednesday, January 21st at FITUR, where an event will be held that will include the presentation of the commemorative pin to the recognized professionals and a round table discussion.
From the Lanzarote Tourism Federation and ASOLAN, "the strong presence of the Canary Islands in this nucleus of consolidated Spanish tourism leadership is especially valued, and in particular the representation of Lanzarote through its president, as a reflection of the island's active role in the major debates and transformation processes facing the sector at a national level".
