The hotel rate of Lanzarote's hotels reached an average price of 147.58 euros per night in February, 14% more expensive than what was paid a year ago, when the average was 129.5 euros.
Thus, the island's hotels have been able to raise more than 69 million euros in February, according to the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) in its latest survey of tourist accommodation.
The island's hotels were 91.1% occupied, slightly less than what they obtained last year around the same dates.
In this way, the number of travelers has been lower, 171,450 people compared to 174,394 last year. In percentage terms, it is a drop of 1.7%, well below the price increases that have more than compensated for the numerical decrease.
However, the number of overnight stays was almost the same, just over 997,000 both last February and the previous February thanks to the longer duration of stays by tourists.
In terms of work, 56 people have lost their jobs in Lanzarote hotels in the last twelve months. Lanzarote's hotel establishments as a whole currently employ 9,893 people, compared to 9,949 last year.
