Lanzarote and La Graciosa will be present at the prestigious World Travel Market (WTM) in London, one of the main global events in the tourism industry, which will take place from November 5 to 7. The delegation will be headed by the president of the Island Council, Oswaldo Betancort, who will meet with representatives of key organizations and companies to enhance the island's presence in the international market, with a focus on sustainability, accessibility, and new strategic alliances.
Oswaldo Betancort emphasizes that Lanzarote's participation in the WTM will focus on "consolidating alliances with operators that bring greater added value to the island and that are positioned as operators of a more qualified tourist", such as British AirWays, in addition to promoting a responsible and sustainable tourism model. "We want those who visit Lanzarote and La Graciosa to experience our commitment to sustainability and to a tourism development that respects our natural and cultural environment. The WTM is an exceptional opportunity to consolidate agreements that reflect these values and generate lasting benefits for our community," declares Betancort.
Among the planned meetings, meetings with industry leaders such as Jet2Holidays and representatives of British Airways stand out in an effort to "capture greater connectivity and diversify routes to the island". The agenda will also include attendance at special sustainability and accessibility events, such as the III Sustainable Spain Meeting, which underscores Lanzarote's commitment to "a tourism that benefits both the visitor and the resident." In addition, SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote will present its new brand architecture to the British market.
Betancort was optimistic about the objectives of the Lanzarote delegation and emphasizes that this event is key to reinforcing the island's image in the competitive British market. "Our objective is clear: we want to continue positioning Lanzarote as a first-class tourist destination that not only captivates with its beauty but also inspires with its model of sustainable and accessible development. These meetings at the WTM will be a crucial step in that direction," concludes the president.
The WTM in London is "a platform that attracts thousands of industry professionals and provides a unique opportunity for the islands, which seek to continue attracting quality tourism, betting on sustainability and initiatives that benefit the local community in the long term".
