The number of tourists arriving in Lanzarote from Italian airports has experienced a sharp drop so far this year compared to last year and has accumulated eight months of declines.

Between January and October, a total of 65,938 travelers have arrived from Italy, almost 18,000 less than arrived during the same period last year, when there were 83,562. In percentage terms, this equates to a decrease of 21% compared to 2023

Only in January (8,746) and February (7,766) were the figures higher than last year, while between March and October there has been a sustained decline every month.

The months with the largest declines have been during the summer and autumn. In October, 3,238 fewer Italian tourists were recorded compared to the same month last year, while in September there were 2,719 fewer travelers.

In August, the number of travelers from Italy had already decreased by 3,384 people, and in July the drop had been 2,696 fewer tourists.

The declines can be attributed, at least in part, to the reduction in Lanzarote's connectivity with Italy in recent months, which may have also affected prices.

In the summer, there were three fewer air frequencies with Italy than last year, as Ryanair canceled a flight with Turin and two with Rome that had operated during the summer of 2023. Thus, the weekly capacity of airlines with Italy was reduced by almost 800 seats per week.

In addition, this winter there is one less frequency with Milan, since although Easyjet added one more flight with the economic capital of the transalpine country, Ryanair canceled two with the same city, so that the weekly capacity of all airlines with Italy fell by 200 people per week compared to last winter.
