Fred. Olsen Express incorporates the catamaran "Buganvilla Express" into its fleet to respond to the high demand of regular passengers and tourists on the route that connects Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. The new ship replaces the "Benchi Express" that since last April was temporarily making the connection between both islands.
Fred. Olsen Express currently has a total of two ships on the route between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with 12 departures a day from each island and a total capacity to transport 4,500 passengers.
The Fleet Director, Juan Ignacio Liaño, explains that with this ship Fred. Olsen Express reaffirms "its commitment to a route that is strategic for the economic, social and tourist activity of both islands." “With this new incorporation Fred. Olsen Express reaffirms its commitment to the connectivity of the Canary Islands. The 'Buganvilla Express' is a catamaran with the capacity to transport 250 passengers and will allow us to offer tourists visiting the islands, the possibility of visiting the neighboring island in a day and at very affordable prices,” he said.
“This catamaran is exclusively designed for passenger transport and will make the connection in about 35 minutes. Its design is oriented to comfort on short trips and has two decks, solarium, cafeteria and accessible services,” he informs. The arrival of the ship to the Canary Islands is scheduled for next Monday, June 27 and its start-up will be on Wednesday, June 29. The 'Buganvilla Express' will cover the same schedules that the catamaran 'Benchi Express' has been doing since April and that with the increase of travelers will return to its original line, the interior route of La Gomera.
