The Teguise City Council approved during the plenary session held this Wednesday the proposals for the 'Island of Lanzarote and Distinguished Tourism Awards 2023', in which the nominations of the businessman, Antonio Cruz Díaz, recently deceased, that of the 'Acatife Cultural Association', founded in 1983, and that of the 'Hotel Boutique Palacio Ico', located in La Villa de Teguise, have been agreed.

Acatife Cultural Association

With forty years behind it, the 'Acatife Cultural Association' has eight record productions. They have managed to rewrite the island's folklore and have become references and living history of Lanzarote's music thanks to their efforts to deepen the dissemination of traditions and folklore, with the collaboration of Canarian lyricists, musicians and arrangers.

Antonio Cruz Díaz

Born in Teseguite, Antonio Cruz Díaz, was one of the founding members of the 'Lanzarote Tourism Federation' in 2019. He had extensive professional experience in the tourism sector at the head of Viajes La Corona, but also diversified his businesses with 'Villa Florida Explotaciones' and 'Penta Tours', which led him to exploit several accommodation complexes in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. We remember that he passed away last June.

Hotel Boutique 'Palacio Ico'

It is an accommodation establishment with nine rooms, located in a 17th century manor house, which is captained by Sonsoles López and Eduardo Riestra. His latest bet has been to turn this space into a benchmark of the new Canarian cuisine. The chef in charge of this task is Víctor Valverde, trained in Martín Berasategui and in the 'Hotel W' in London, and who has designed a menu that impregnates the Canarian product with the flavors and techniques of Asian cuisine.
