In Lanzarote there are a total of 76,597 homes and 9.4% of them are officially dedicated to vacation rentals in accordance with the regulations of the Canary Islands, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which has just published the latest edition of the Housing census in Spain.

It is not surprising that Yaiza, one of the main tourist municipalities on the island, occupies the first place, since 17.6% of the 2,161 homes that exist in the municipality are dedicated to vacation rentals.

More surprising is that Haría occupies the second place. In the northern municipality, 15.8% of the 3,810 homes that exist in the municipality are dedicated to vacation rentals.

Teguise is the third municipality with the highest proportion of this type of rental over the total of its housing stock. 14.3% of the 11,104 Teguise homes are advertised on the platforms dedicated to this economic activity.

Also in the municipality of Tías, where there are a total of 15,521 homes, more than 10% of the total are for this tourist use, specifically 11.9%.

In Tinajo, 9.8% of the municipality's homes are dedicated to vacation rentals, amounting to a total of 2,419.

San Bartolomé and Arrecife are the municipalities with the fewest vacation homes on the island. In the first, where there are 8,292 homes, only 3.9% are dedicated to vacation rentals, while in the capital only 1.9% of the homes are dedicated to this economic activity.

To calculate the number of vacation homes, the INE has extracted data from the three most used tourist accommodation platforms, selected tourist homes in accordance with the regulations and then eliminated duplicates.
