Vacation rentals continue to grow in Lanzarote and have increased by 519 places between June and September. This is reflected in the data from the General Tourist Registry of the Canary Islands that the Canarian Executive updates daily.

The increase in those intended for tourist use continues to rise, while the Government of the Canary Islands is finalizing the future Law on the Regulation of Tourist Use of Homes, surrounded by controversy and which the Canarian Vacation Rental Association accuses of being a "purge."

Currently, according to data from this same September 18, Lanzarote has 9,091 vacation homes registered; compared to the 8,573 registered last June.

By municipalities, Yaiza accounts for 2,571 homes for tourist use, the highest figure on the island, with almost half of them (1,303) registered in Playa Blanca.

The second municipality in Lanzarote with the most vacation rentals is Tías, with 2,426 homes registered, the majority (1,080) in Puerto del Carmen, but also distributed in the town of Tías (140).

Meanwhile, the municipality of Teguise has 1,833 registered, which also includes data from La Graciosa and Caleta de Famara. In the case of Caleta de Famara there are 133 vacation homes registered and in La Graciosa, 167.

It is worth remembering that, according to a study prepared by the Caja Canarias-Ashotel Tourism Chair, the eighth island had at the beginning of this year 89 vacation homes per 100 inhabitants, the highest figure in the archipelago. Thus, in the preliminary draft of the future Law on the Regulation of Vacation Homes, the Canarian Executive gives the Cabildo of Lanzarote 18 months to order the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park.

Arrecife exceeds one thousand tourist homes

For the first time, the capital of Lanzarote exceeds one thousand homes for tourist use. Thus, there are currently 1,011 houses and apartments in the capital, intended for vacation accommodation. In contrast, a month ago there were 929. That is, in the last three months, 82 vacation rentals have been registered.

The municipalities with the fewest tourist homes

On the contrary, the municipality of Haría has 498 vacation homes registered; San Bartolomé, 461 in total; the municipality of Tinajo has registered 15 new registrations in the last three months. Thus, it has gone from 276 vacation homes on June 17 of this year, to 291 in September.
