The call for young rental voucher aid will start in the summer by the Government of the Canary Islands.
The provision to regulate the initiative, promoted with funds from the central government, is being finalized by the Ministry of Housing and it is expected that about 4,000 young people can benefit from this subsidy, which will be granted for two years, at a rate of 250 euros per month.
However, the number of beneficiaries could increase depending on the rental income cap that is finally established, since the central government launched the initiative with a maximum of 600 euros, but gives the option to the autonomous communities to raise the cost of income up to 900 euros.
The Canary Islands will receive a total of 21.2 million euros from this fund for this year, which will be granted retroactively to January 1. The aid is aimed at young people between 18 and 35 years old who do not exceed the annual income of 24,318 euros and who live in a rental apartment on a stable basis. In addition, it will be compatible with other subsidies as long as they do not exceed 40% of the rental income, discounting the bonus.
