The price of rental housing in the Canary Islands fell by 0.9% in May in its monthly variation and 7.6% in its year-on-year variation, placing its price at 13.63 euros per square meter, according to data from the Fotocasa Real Estate Index.
All communities increased the year-on-year price in May. Asturias (16.6%), Madrid (14.2%), Castilla-La Mancha (13.0%), Balearic Islands (13.0%) and Galicia (11.2%). They are followed by the regions of Basque Country (9.8%), Extremadura (9.6%), Cantabria (9.4%), Comunitat Valenciana (8.9%), Castilla y León (8.5%), Canary Islands (7.6%), Andalusia (7.2%), Region of Murcia (7.1%), Aragon (5.8%), Navarra (4.1%), La Rioja (3.3%) and Catalonia (0.8%).
In May 2024, there are already eight communities that exceed the maximum rental prices per square meter per month. The areas of Spain with the highest prices in the entire historical series are: Balearic Islands with 18.75 euros per square meter per month, Madrid with 18.69, Basque Country with 15.59, Cantabria with 13.34, Comunitat Valenciana with 12.16, Asturias with 10.12, Galicia with 9.31 per month and Extremadura with 6.86 per month.
Regarding the classification of autonomous communities with the most expensive housing price to rent a home in Spain, in the first places are the Balearic Islands and Madrid, with prices of 18.75 and 18.69 euros per square meter per month, respectively.
They are followed by seven more communities with prices above 10.00 euros per square meter per month and are: Balearic Islands with 18.75 per month, Madrid with 18.69, Catalonia with 15.85, Basque Country with 15.59, Canary Islands with 13.63, Cantabria with 13.34, Comunitat Valenciana with 12.16, Navarra with 11.59, Andalusia with 10.54 and Asturias with 10.12.
