Rent increases less in Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura than the Spanish average

However, the province of Las Palmas remains the fifth most expensive in the country for renting a home

April has closed with a year-on-year increase in rental prices in the province of Las Palmas of 4.2%, notably lower than the national average growth which reached 10% in the last twelve months, according to the latest price report published by idealista.

However, the square meter in the province of Las Palmas, whose average price reaches 14.6 euros per square meter, while the Spanish average is 14.3 euros.

In the whole of the Canary Islands, the square meter also costs 14.6 euros and has increased by 7.2% in the last year, since in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife prices have grown more, specifically 11.6%.

In general, rents have risen in all Spanish regions since April of last year. La Rioja leads the increases (13.2%) followed by Asturias (12.6%), Community of Madrid (12.3%), Comunitat Valenciana (11.9%), Aragon (11.8%), Catalonia (11%), Castilla-La Mancha (11%) and Andalusia (10.6%).

Below the national average are the increases in Castilla y León (9.7%), Region of Murcia (9.4%), Extremadura (7.8%), Balearic Islands (7.4%), Galicia and Canary Islands (7.2% in both cases). Navarra (3.5%), Cantabria (6.2%) and Euskadi (7.1%).

The Community of Madrid (19.5 euros) and the Balearic Islands (19.1 euros) are the regions with the most expensive price. They are followed by Catalonia (18.7 euros), Canary Islands (14.6 euros) and Euskadi (14.5).

On the opposite side of the table we find Extremadura (7 euros) and Castilla-La Mancha (7.7) which are the most economical communities.

By provinces, the rental price rises in 49, with the only exception of Lleida (-1.8%). The largest increases have been experienced in Segovia (14.4%), Teruel (14.3%), Valencia (13.3%), La Rioja (13.2%) and Ávila (12.9%).

On the opposite side, Guipúzcoa (1.4%), Pontevedra (3.4%) and Navarra (3.5%).

Barcelona (20.3 euros per square meter) is the most expensive province to rent a home in Spain, surpassing Madrid (19.5 euros), Balearic Islands (19.1 euros) and Guipúzcoa (16 euros). They are followed by Málaga with 15.9 euros together with Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, both with 14.6.

The provinces of Jaén (6.2 euros), Ciudad Real (6.7) and Zamora (6.8) are the most economical.
