The unemployment rate in Lanzarote has fallen in September by 3.4%, which is equivalent to 280 fewer people in unemployment, according to the Canary Islands Employment Observatory (OBECAN) published this Tuesday.
After the fall in employment recorded in August when the unemployment lists added 101 more people, September recovers the downward path experienced between March and July. The total number of unemployed on the island stands at with which to reach 8,054.
A month ago there were 8,334 and on a day like today a year ago 9,607 were counted, so the year-on-year decrease is equivalent to 16.2%.
By sex, the decrease has been greater among women, whose unemployment rate has fallen by 4%, while among men the decrease has been 2.5%.
By age, the unemployment rate among 25 to 44 year olds has fallen by 5.8%, while among the unemployed over 45 the decrease has been the smallest, registering a decrease of 2.4%.
The only age group among which unemployment has risen has been among the youngest, specifically 2.8%.
Unemployment falls in all municipalities except Yaiza
By municipalities, the only one that has experienced an increase in unemployment has been Yaiza, where 27 jobs have been lost, bringing its number of unemployed to 565 people.
Precisely 27 fewer unemployed have been counted in Haría, which with a fall of 7% has experienced the largest percentage decrease in unemployment on the island. The total number of unemployed in the northern municipality amounts to 307 citizens.
In San Bartolomé, there has been a fall of 5.9%, which is equivalent to 57 fewer people on the municipality's unemployment lists, bringing its total number of unemployed to 964 people.
In Arrecife and Teguise the decrease has been 3.9%, which means 165 fewer unemployed in the capital and 41 fewer in Teguise. With these data, the total number of unemployed in Arrecife stands at 4,063, while in the municipality of Teguise there are 1,022 people.
For its part, Tías has experienced a fall in its unemployment figures of 1.9%, equivalent to 16 fewer unemployed, bringing the total number of unemployed in the municipality to 807 people.
September closed in Tinajo with 5 fewer unemployed, so its total number of unemployed stands at 356 citizens.
