The Canary Islands Employment Service announces grants for 52 million to train 50,000 unemployed people

A total of 38 million will finance training actions with professional certificates and 14 million will be allocated to other courses, especially languages, digital skills and communications

The Ministry of Employment of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE), announces the call for grants worth 52 million euros for training actions aimed at some 50,000 people, primarily unemployed, within the 2022 program.

Published this week in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), the resolution signed by the Minister Elena Máñez, as president of the SCE, approves the call for aid under a competitive competition regime for training entities, both public and private with facilities in the autonomous community, with the aim of teaching the various specialties in person to improve the professional capacity and personal development of workers, preferably young people, women or the long-term unemployed.

Of the total amount, 38 million finance training actions with professional certificates and 14 million subsidize other courses in the catalog of specialties of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) without the previous qualification, mainly in languages, digital skills and computer science and communications.

In fact, 26% of the annual program, more than 1,600 actions of the almost 6,500 courses in total, correspond to the specialty of computer science and communications as a sign of the growing importance of digital transformation in the productive fabric, in addition to other teachings on emerging sectors in relation to the blue economy, circular economy or ecological transition strategies of the Government of the Canary Islands for the economic diversification of the archipelago.

At the beginning of May, the regional executive already agreed with the business confederations and trade union organizations, within the General Employment Council of the SCE, the update of the training offer for the period 2022-2204, also agreed with the local corporations (councils and town halls) to adapt the various actions to the specific needs of the labor market in each territory.

From this Friday, the entities with an interest in participating in the public offer have a period of twenty business days to complete the corresponding applications through the Sispecan-Formación application and submit the necessary documentation through the electronic headquarters of the autonomous administration.
