For the third consecutive year, the supermarket chain HiperDino has received the award for the best company in the Canary Islands in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), in the VIII edition of the Awards for Excellence in Human Resources of the Canary Islands 2023.
The award is an initiative of Link Soluciones, Adecco and Aguilar Abogados, with the participation of Fremap and the collaboration of the Illustrious Official Colleges of Social Graduates. Its objective is to recognize and highlight the best practices, policies and initiatives in the field of people management in Canarian organizations.
The president of the DinoSol Foundation, Davinia Domínguez, and its director, Virginia Ávila, attended to collect this award for being the entity through which HiperDino channels all its actions aimed at improving the quality of life of its workers and of Canarian society in general.
In one of the moments of the act, the president, Davinia Domínguez, stated that "long before CSR became an innovative concept, my father and my uncle were already putting it into practice almost without knowing it and voluntarily; and that is that with the
birth of HiperDino in 1985, the commitment to the well-being and improvement of its workers and Canarian society was also born."
Since 2017, the DinoSol Foundation has been actively working to support HiperDino workers, in the development of its own projects, in solidarity actions and in collaborations with other entities.
One of the projects that has made it worthy of this recognition has been Alimentos conVida, to reduce losses and food waste in the chain's establishments and, at the same time, favor that those products that are not marketable but suitable for consumption reach the soup kitchens of the Archipelago.
Half a ton of food for social entities
In 2022 alone, 471,247 kg of food were prevented from being thrown away, which were donated to 30 social entities throughout the Canary Islands and benefited 12,049 people every day.
Another of the initiatives most valued by the jury of these awards has been Tienda Accesible, a project that allows adapting its establishments to people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), favoring their real inclusion in tasks as everyday as going shopping.
HiperDino is the leading chain in the food sector in the Archipelago and the only 100% Canarian regional one. Currently, it has 237 stores and works with more than 13,000 references, of which 40% correspond to local suppliers.
In addition, it is the leading company in the creation of jobs with more than 8,500 workers.
