The Canary Employment Service (SCE) has published the early call for subsidies for employment-training projects for the year 2026. This initiative, with a budget of ten million euros, aims to improve the labor market integration of long-term unemployed individuals through collaboration with town councils and local entities.
The call states that, for projects to be eligible for grants, in the municipalities where the entities are located, it is necessary for there to be more than one thousand long-term unemployed people registered as job seekers as of December 31, 2025.
These projects will allow the hiring of workers for the execution of works or services of general and social interest for a period not exceeding nine months.
For the Minister of Tourism and Employment of the Canary Islands Government, Jéssica de León, "this call reaffirms our commitment to groups that face the greatest difficulties in entering the labor market.""Through these 'training in alternation with employment' projects, we not only offer immediate job opportunities in their own municipalities but also equip participants with real tools to improve their future employability," explains De León.For its part, the director of the Canary Employment Service, María Teresa Ortega, pointed out that the procedure will be processed under the **competitive tendering** system and that the SCE will pay 100% of the subsidy in advance once the project's commencement is verified"We aim to streamline resources as much as possible so that local entities and city councils can launch these essential services before December 31, 2026," he indicates
Interested local entities and corporations must submit their applications exclusively through the electronic headquarters of the SCE during the month of February.
In addition, the SCE will publish at the end of January the definitive list of municipalities that meet the minimum requirements of long-term unemployed individuals necessary to access these grants
