The Yaiza City Council has secured a grant of "one million euros" that comes from funds from the Ministry of Labor and the Canarian Employment Service to train and offer the opportunity to work to a total of 45 neighbors for eleven months starting in March.

The job opportunities will be related to specific services such as: home help, social revitalization and gardening, the three action projects presented by the Institution chaired by Óscar Noda to the 'Training Programs in Alternation with Employment' (PFAE), whose favorable resolution was published this last week in official portals of the Autonomous Community.

The mayor Óscar Noda, declares that "public administrations add resources to favor the labor insertion of people registered as job seekers and with many difficulties to work, taking advantage of the financing of the three initiatives that we have justified before the PFAE with which we intend to reinforce municipal services and better attend to citizen demands".

The project is especially aimed at the "linking of people with little or no training in trades or professions", who can then work for others or on their own. Yaiza is preparing a warehouse with workshop classrooms in Playa Blanca where students will receive theoretical-practical classes in home help, social revitalization and gardening, although the latter will also carry out practices in the surroundings of the Casona de Femés. Apart from the 45 directly beneficiary people, the proposal facilitates the labor insertion of directors, teachers and support staff linked to the formative development of up to five people for each cycle.

The objective, highlights the Councilor for Employment of Yaiza, Rubén Arca, is to "help train citizens in a situation of unemployment not only so that they learn and work during the eleven months of duration of the project, but so that the learning is useful to them in future jobs where they will be able to accredit qualification and experience." At the end of the project, the student-worker will obtain the certificate of professionalism in the specialty in which they have trained", he highlighted.

"Since the beginning of the call to access the subsidies, we have worked in a coordinated manner the municipal areas, because this type of projects are developed in several areas of public service and with a marked social component as they are aimed at vulnerable or excluded people," emphasizes the Councilor for Social Services, Karina Centeno, who appreciates the "implication" of technicians and operators of Yaiza who "quietly carried out their work, some, writing and completing files, while others adapted the municipal warehouse of Playa Blanca that will serve as a formative classroom, workshop, collection of part of the technical resources and operations center".

Areas of action

Yaiza will inform opportunely about the requirements and management of inscriptions to the program, but advances the mission of each of the three initiatives. Regarding Home Help, the purpose is to lend a hand in the socio-sanitary field to people with special needs of physical, psychic and social health, applying the most appropriate strategies and procedures to maintain and improve their personal autonomy and their relations with the environment.

'Beautify Yaiza', is the training-employment in gardening destined to execute auxiliary operations for the implantation and maintenance of gardens, parks and green areas of the municipality; and those who are linked to 'Dinamiza Yaiza', will carry out tasks of orientation of activities of use of leisure time directed to the infantile and juvenile population in any space of the social fabric, be it culture, citizen participation, local development, entertainment, education or sport.
