The Yaiza City Council began this week to develop the program Diagnosis and Improvement of Local Commerce with the aim of improving the competitiveness and modernization of local businesses in Yaiza, through an exhaustive diagnosis and an individualized action plan for each participating establishment. The initiative also includes the monitoring during the implementation period of the improvement proposals.

This personalized and free consulting service is possible thanks to the collaboration of the Yaiza Town Council and the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the support of Laureon, a consultancy specialized in strategy and business model design, whose professionals are already visiting businesses in the center of Playa Blanca to establish the first contact with owners and/or managers.

The initiative also covers businesses in Yaiza town and Uga with an estimated total reach of thirty businesses in the municipality. The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and the councilor for Commerce and Consumption, Freya Finch, were this Tuesday on Limones street in Playa Blanca alongside Laureon staff tasked with conducting the interviews in Yaiza.

“At a time of maximum competitiveness, it is advisable for businesses to listen to and heed specialized voices and proven proposals aimed at increasing sales and survival in the market with profit margins,” declares the southern mayor. Businesses that wish to join can contact Yaiza's Commerce Department or write to the Laureon consultancy at the email address [email protected]

The service evaluates four basic aspects of each establishment: window dressing, specifically, analysis of the visual presentation of the premises and the shop window as a first impression for the potential customer; interior design, referring to the organization of the interior space and the customer's shopping experience; sales techniques, focused on customer service and sales processes to maximize conversion; and digital marketing, to have a diagnosis of online presence and the use of digital channels to reach new customers.

Councillor Freya Finch pleads with businesses "maximum collaboration with the consultant in the three in-person interviews they will conduct at the point of sale, the first of them, focused on the initial diagnosis through direct observation of the premises and a structured interview with the business manager."

The program includes a second interview for the presentation of the personalized report and the action plan with concrete, prioritized, and quickly applicable proposals, while the third visit addresses the follow-up on the degree of implementation of the improvements, reinforcement of the recommendations, and collection of the merchant's assessment.
