The airline Volotea has incorporated into its winter schedule a route that will link Oviedo (Asturias) with the island of Lanzarote during the next Christmas season, specifically in the period between December 5 and January 10.
This is the first time that this Spanish low cost company, which currently operates with France, has opened its connectivity to the peninsular territory, which indicates "a clear commitment to the destination and will expand connectivity with northern Spain, especially with Asturias, an area that currently has the lowest incidence of Covid", says the Minister of Tourism Promotion, Ángel Vázquez.
The flights, which will be operated by a B717 aircraft, with a capacity of 125 seats, are scheduled for the 5th, 8th, 13th, 18th, 20th, 23rd, 27th and 29th of December, as well as the 3rd, 6th and 10th of January 2021, most of them (from December 13) with departure times from the Asturian city and from the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, at 07:15 h. and 09:30 h. respectively. On the 5th and 8th of December, coinciding with the bank holiday, the departure time from Oviedo will be at 15:00 h, while the flight will depart from Lanzarote at 17:15 h.
According to the councillor, the company has informed Turismo Lanzarote of the possibility of considering extending the period of permanence of this new route beyond January, depending on the results and the demand it generates.
New route with the French market
Volotea currently operates with Nantes (France) on Saturdays and Sundays. From December 19, it also plans to start connections, with a weekly frequency on Saturdays, with the cities of Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Marseille, Toulouse and Lyon, the latter as a new route compared to the previous season.
