The sale of second-hand cars has risen by 2.15% in September in the province of Las Palmas, where 3,707 vehicles were sold last month, a figure that contrasts with the falls of 7.65% in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 8.6% nationally.

The employers' associations Faconauto (dealers) and Ganvam (official and independent distributors) have reported that the Canary Islands average represents a decrease of 2.74% in sales in September, while so far this year it accumulates a decrease of 4.53%, with a total of 61,764 vehicle transfers in the archipelago.

The national average has been negative for eight months

At a national level, sales of used cars and SUVs fell by 8.6% in September, to stand at 153,927 units, chaining eight months in negative territory. In this way, the used market
accumulates a decrease of 5% so far this year, with a total of 1,360,747 units, which means that for each new vehicle, 2.3 used vehicles are being sold.

In an analysis of sales by age, the data show how the lack of semi-new vehicle units continues to take its toll on the market. Specifically, operations with used vehicles less than one
year old plummeted by 28.1% in September and accumulated a decrease of almost 11% so far this year.
