The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Energy and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), has granted a total of 70 grants to subsidize actions to improve energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies in public infrastructures of 30 municipalities, with a total budget of 2,262,372 euros. In Lanzarote, the municipality that will benefit from this aid will be Tías.

The regional minister responsible for the Area, José Antonio Valbuena, highlights the importance of this call, "since each year it allows municipalities to contribute to achieving the goal of decarbonizing the Archipelago in 2040".

He also stressed that "the rise in electricity prices makes it more necessary than ever to opt for the use of renewable sources, savings and energy efficiency".

For his part, the regional Deputy Minister for Ecological Transition, Miguel Ángel Pérez, explained that the total budget will be used "to subsidize energy audits in facilities or buildings, to improve or replace public lighting equipment and to include energy efficiency criteria in desalination, purification, treatment and distribution of water." To this is added "the use of renewable energies aimed at electrical self-consumption, associated with desalination, purification, treatment and distribution of water infrastructures and other savings and efficiency measures in municipal buildings and infrastructures."

The general director of Energy of the regional government, Rosana Melián, has reported that the execution period of the actions is extended until November 10 and the justification of the subsidy until November 18.
