The Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin "Vinos de Lanzarote" has sent a statement to warn of the appearance of vineyards affected by the first symptoms of mildew, a disease that can cause serious damage to the vines, on farms in the areas of Masdache, Las Quemadas, Hoya de la Perra and Capellanía.
According to reports from the Council, the combination of humidity and heat recorded in Lanzarote in recent weeks has favored the development of the fungus that causes this disease, called "serenada" or "gota", in the shoots of the vines that are beginning to burst.
Therefore, the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin "Vinos de Lanzarote" suggests that winegrowers be attentive to the possible appearance of the disease in their vineyards.
