The Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin 'Vinos de Lanzarote', together with 10 other designations of origin of the Archipelago, has denounced the malfunction of the electronic headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands for the processing of aid to winegrowers. According to them, this situation is causing them to paralyze the procedures, so they demand an immediate solution.
In the case of Lanzarote, the Regulatory Council carries out the procedures for the more than 1,200 winegrowers who apply for these grants each year. However, it denounces that in the last two weeks "it has barely been able to manage said documentation, postponing the appointments that the winegrowers had at its headquarters to carry out the procedures together with the Council staff."
In a letter, the Regulatory Councils point out that the problem lies in the fact that the electronic headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands "is collapsed with continuous interruptions of the service, which prevents winegrowers from carrying out the procedures." "This generates, from our modest point of view, total defenselessness; since there is no other way to do it. The days go by and time is running out,” they warn.
They also emphasize “the lack of concern and responsibility on the part of the administration, which at no time has addressed the sector to give explanations and solutions.” For this reason, the Regulatory Councils propose different options to solve this problem. On the one hand, they raise the possibility of paralyzing the processing period until the problems with the electronic headquarters are resolved. On the other, that the term contemplated in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands for the management of the aid, with a daily penalty of 1%, is not taken into account and can be used for the processing of the aid without penalty. And, finally, that winegrowers be authorized to carry out the aid procedure in person, instead of doing it electronically, since the tools that have been made available for the procedure are not working correctly.
The Regulatory Councils of the Designations of Origin of the Canary Islands are currently managing, simultaneously, the aid for the maintenance of vineyard cultivation, the State aid, and the allegation to the provisional Resolution of the 2020 call for aid, and recall that all these procedures can only be managed electronically.
