The document presented by PSOE and Sumar for a new coalition of progressive Government does not include the air route of Public Service Obligation (PSO) between Lanzarote and Madrid.
This route was agreed by the previous Canary Executive with the Ministry of Transport to limit the price of flights and examine market behavior in the summer months. Initially it was going to be established in June and later it was announced that it would begin in autumn.
However, the document that includes the agreement between Sumar and PSOE for the next legislature includes a "pilot experience" of PSO between Menorca and Barcelona, which if successful, will be extended to the "connections of Ibiza and Menorca with Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia".
The agreement does not contain any reference to the pilot project to establish a maximum reference price between Lanzarote and Madrid, whose objective was to stop the unjustified increase in air fares between the Canary Islands and the peninsula, especially during the summer, Easter and Christmas.
At the moment there is no scheduled date for the start of the air route with limited prices between Lanzarote and Madrid.
Among other things, nothing is yet known about the report to be prepared by the Ministry of Economy and the position of the European Union is also unknown, whose opinion has been requested by the central government, since several airlines announced that they would appeal the measure to the European Commission.
